What Do You Use For Journal For?

I'm looking for nouns, quick phrases that describes why you journal. As soon as you read this, what popped in your head?

Why do you journal?

I journal to...

plan
focus
understand
ramble
vent
share
record

And I am sure there are other reasons, but these are the ones I thought at this moment.

What about you? Why do you keep a journal?

  2. Muse :)

All my journals are named "Muse" & numbered, Roman numerals; that is my purpose, goal & reward of journaling ~ thinking it through, writing it down, harvesting it at a later date for review & reflection. :)

  6. One journal is for thinking, understanding, revelations, venting, a little bit of documentation.

Another journal is for working out the details of the projects I'm currently working on.

Another journal is for recording quotes, noting highly significant news events, and generally keeping track of life's ephemera. Oh, and that's where I've started the list of books I've read this year!

  9. I journal to remember. Journaling helps me focus on the day. In my analog journal I did the alphabet using a fancy initial letter. It was fun. It made me start my entry with that letter no matter what. I was very faithful until I came to the letter "X" What word can I use? I whimp'd out and used "xcept." I know, I know, I don't feel so good about it. I'll try again.

  10. Xactly what I was thinking xcept it's hard to start a sentence with xylophone. I did think of another idea: "Xing the street I saw . . ." Is that cheating? It's on a sign! It must be a word.

    Thanks for the suggestion.

  14. Convencience. I love being able to get my thoughts out as soon as I have something to say. And if nobody is around to hear it, I write it down anyways! Not to sound hokey, but I'm excited for my new Quiver. Don't know if you've heard of them but they're pen holders made from nice quality leather. I feel silly being so excited for something like this but if I get this excited, you may too. They're called Quiver leather pen holders.

  15. Oh I totally understand getting excited about stationary :-)) I get silly every time I get a new journal, even if it's same old moleskine. Yes, I've seen these quivers online. They do look very good. I may buy it, but I don't really need it (woman, so never without a big bag), so it'll be one of those frivolous purchases perhaps some day.
